Tally Lights Provide Improved Workflows to Studio Production

Pan, tilt and zoom camera manufacturer PTZOptics recently announced its acquisition of Tally-Lights, LLC. The acquisition of Tally-Lights, now rebranded TallyLightsTM, helps to further expand TallyLights’ distribution through PTZOptics’ strong partner channel. PTZOptics partners have seen an increase in demand for professional live streaming and video production studios across many major vertical markets. The leadership team at PTZOptics found that TallyLights’ existing product line and integration support aligned well with PTZOptics’ partner network.

Many PTZ cameras on the market today offer built-in “tally light” solutions, but they are often too small to be seen from any reasonable distance. After listening to customers working in studios and presentation settings, it became apparent that dedicated tally lights are a necessity for any professional, multi-camera environment. While PTZ cameras do reduce the need for physical camera operators, TallyLights solutions offer indication lights for people who are on-camera as well as those behind the camera. Each TallyLights emitter offers red, forward-facing LEDs for on-camera talent and a green, backward-facing LED for camera operators.

The TallyLights product line today supports video production systems and vendors such as OBS, Wirecast, vMix, NDI®, Blackmagic, Roland, JVC and more. As a company at the forefront of educating video production professionals, PTZOptics has made a significant effort to build powerful integrations for PTZ camera controls into many of the same software and hardware solutions that TallyLights already supports. Integrations for software such as OBS, vMix, Wirecast, and NDI® have made it easier for customers to use our products. Knowing that TallyLights integrates with many of the same systems will make it easier for our customers to deploy TallyLights indicator systems in their studio environments.

Video producers are often faced with multiple real-time challenges during live presentations. TallyLights can help to keep teams of presenters in sync with a multi-camera setup. Camera operators will also benefit from TallyLights because the live indicator lights let them know when their camera will be in preview.

TallyLights offers support for a variety of video production software solutions through a plug-and-play, USB-connected controller. These TallyLights controller boxes are able to control and power emitters through a single USB connection to a standard computer. Each TallyLights emitter is then connected to the TallyLights controller via low-voltage extension cabling. These controllers are made in the U.S. and are designed to work hassle-free for years.

Multi-camera productions have increased in popularity significantly with the growth of online video and video communications. TallyLights have become the missing piece of many video production studios looking to streamline their workflows and build places where great content can be made.
